An Unforgettable Journey: ISP MUN Malaysia

Viaje A Malasia Valle Real

In November 2024, four talented high school students from the Thomas Jefferson Institute Valle Real Campus, Isabella, Renata, Ximena and Margarita, traveled to Malaysia along with 19 other students from the LATAM region to participate in the renowned International Schools Partnership (ISP) Model United Nations (MUN) conference, where each participant represents a country and assumes the role of diplomat in simulated international debates and negotiations.

Our students represented the following countries:

– Isabella: Chile

– Renata: Colombia

– Ximena: Namibia

– Margarita: Botsuana

Accompanied by two exceptional chaperones: Deborah Revolorio, Director of Student Futures LATAM, and Megan Randall, Learning Coordinator for ITJ Valle Real and Regional Coordinator for ILOS for MexCCA.

During the conference, our students had the opportunity to interact with young people from around the world and practice ISP's Big 5 Life Skills: communication, critical thinking, global citizenship, collaboration, and personal leadership.

The LATAM team not only excelled in diplomacy, debate, and teamwork, but also earned nine awards, including the Life Competencies Award, given to Renata, a Valle Real student, for her outstanding performance in these key competencies.

Deborah Revolorio commented: “The ISP Model United Nations was much more than an event: it was a transformative experience that allowed students to find their voice, create lasting friendships, and take meaningful steps toward contributing to a better world.”

Upon returning home, our students felt inspired and ready to make a difference, both locally and globally. The farewell was filled with excitement, smiles, and the promise of new collaborations. Congratulations to Isabella, Renata, Ximena, Margarita, and the rest of the team, and much success in their future endeavors!
