An Unforgettable Journey: ISP MUN Malaysia

In November 2024, four talented high school students from Instituto Thomas Jefferson Campus Valle Real, Isabella, Renata, Ximena, and Margarita, traveled to Malaysia along with 19 other students from the LATAM region to participate in the prestigious International Schools Partnership (ISP) Model United Nations (MUN) conference, where each participant represents a country and takes on the role of a diplomat in international debates and negotiations.

Our students represented the following countries:

– Isabella: Chile

– Renata: Colombia

– Ximena: Namibia

– Margarita: Botsuana

Accompanied by two exceptional chaperones: Deborah Revolorio, Director of Student Futures LATAM, and Megan Randall, Coordinator of Learning for ITJ Valle Real and Regional ILOS Coordinator for MexCCA.

During the conference, our students had the opportunity to interact with young people from all over the world and put into practice ISP’s 5 Core Life Competencies: communication, critical thinking, global citizenship, collaboration, and personal leadership.

The LATAM team not only excelled in diplomacy, debate, and teamwork but also earned nine awards, including the Life Competencies award given to Renata, a student from Valle Real, for her outstanding performance in these key areas.

Deborah Revolorio commented: "The ISP Model United Nations was much more than an event: it was a transformative experience that allowed students to find their voice, build lasting friendships, and take meaningful steps toward contributing to a better world."

Upon returning home, our students were inspired and ready to make a difference, both in their local environments and globally. The farewell was filled with emotion, smiles, and promises of future collaborations. Congratulations to Isabella, Renata, Ximena, Margarita, and the rest of the team, and we wish them much success in their future projects!
