It is with great pride and joy that we want to share with you that we have formally inaugurated our new KIVA anti-harassment program.
This program has its origins in Finland, being part of the curriculum of this country, a pioneer and at the forefront in education. KIVA is a compound word in Finnish that means:
KI Kiusaamista - Harassment
VA Vastainen – Against
That is why we held our first KIVA DAY, on January 26, with the participation of ALL our beloved students, from Nursery to High School, imagine more than 950 ITJ students, all working on a special day, so they came dressed in the colors of the logo to make the experience even more fun.
Our students carried out a series of activities where we reflected on school coexistence, on empathy but also on differences.
We stopped to reflect on what bullying is and generate various proposals to later capture them on posters, where they placed their ideas to be part of the solution to this social phenomenon that is present worldwide today.
The work and reflection of each of our students emphasized the need to get to know each other from an empathetic approach.
Our lower primary students very creatively made a dove of peace, which they waved at the end of our activities, alluding to that call to the world… peace, cordiality.
The ribbon cutting was led by our directors Sara Yeo and Mónica Montalvo, who highlighted the importance of having such an innovative program in our school, as well as inviting our community to be part of the change against bullying. Ms Lety Lerma and Ms Paulina Bustos showed the vests that we will wear during guard duty, so that whoever needs the support of an adult can quickly identify them.
“It was without a doubt a very special day…”Carlo
“We were able to get to know our classmates better with one of the activities and I was very surprised to learn something that I didn't know about my classmates…” –Alan
Without a doubt, it was a great day for our beloved community.
In summary, this event was a valuable platform to continue incorporating amazing learning among our beloved students, committed to continuing to create a safe environment, where they feel happy and distinguishing the importance of being inclusive.
