At ITJ Zona Esmeralda, the passion for science and learning transcends the classroom. It all starts with SciFest, our internal science fair, where students from kindergarten to high school present their most creative and innovative projects. This event not only encourages critical thinking and scientific curiosity, but also selects the best projects that will represent our school at the State Science Fair.
From there, the winners have the opportunity to advance to the next level: the National Science Fair, a national event where the brightest minds in the country present their ideas and contributions for the future. This year, our students Natalia N, Sophia G, Elisa G and Camila M were selected to represent our school at the national level.

Ecological Innovation: Nature Defense
Our student Natalia N., who has developed a unique project entitled “Nature Defense: Exploring Natural Ways to Repel Flies”.
This innovative fly repellent is specifically designed for horses, offering a natural, effective and environmentally friendly solution. Natalia was inspired by the need to protect these noble animals without resorting to harmful chemicals, contributing to animal welfare and sustainability.
Through extensive research and testing in real-world environments, Natalia was able to identify natural ingredients that, when strategically combined, create a safe and long-lasting repellent effect. This project not only reflects her passion for science and the environment, but also her commitment to making a positive impact on the world.
Eco Energy: Sustainable Innovation
Our talented students Camila M., Elisa G. and Sophia G. developed “Eco energy”
This innovative work aims to generate energy sustainably using plants as the main source.
Using a creative and scientific approach, our students have investigated how to harness the natural processes of plants to produce electrical energy. Their project combines biology, chemistry and technology, showing how nature can be a key ally in the search for solutions to the energy challenges of the future.
“Eco Energy” not only seeks to highlight the importance of clean energy, but also to inspire new ways of living responsibly with our environment. This project is a demonstration of Camila, Elisa and Sophia’s commitment to a greener and more sustainable future, as well as their ability to transform ideas into real solutions.
The Villahermosa Experience: More than a Competition
In Villahermosa, our students not only compete, but also grow as people and professionals. The experience included exhibitions and a cultural exchange with young people from all over Mexico, an invaluable opportunity to broaden horizons.
Additionally, they had the honor of exploring the incredible landscapes and rich culture of Tabasco, making this trip a truly transformative experience.

A Special Thanks
None of this would have been possible without the support and guidance of our dedicated mentors. Professor Hugo Moreno and Miss Aelin Zerón have been key players in the development of these projects. With their experience and dedication, they have inspired our students to overcome challenges and reach new goals.
ITJ Emerald Zone Pride
Each of these projects is a reflection of the effort, dedication and talent of our students. From SciFest to the National Science Fair, we have witnessed a journey full of learning and achievements.
We are sure that this is just the first of many successful experiences for Natalia, Camila, Elisa, Sophia and all our young scientists. Thank you for representing us with such pride and passion!
