Last Friday, September 15, our ITJ Palomar campus was painted green, white and red in celebration of the Independence of Mexico. Students and teachers of all grades lived this day with respect, emotion and Mexican pride.
It all started with our Elementary Flag Honors, in which the escort formed by: Alessandra, Alina, Julieta M., Julieta G., Daniela, Mía and Mariangela paraded our flag through the central patio with honor. The time came to sing the anthem and thanks to each of our students, they made it heard loudly in the heart of the school. Miss. Clau continued giving the “Cry of Independence” and we closed the ceremony with a flourish to the sound of Jarabe Tapatío enjoying the ribbon presentation by Ricardo Meza, our 3rd grade student.

Then the turn of our youngest students continued, who also attended their Flag Honors with their escort made up of: Salvador, Michel, Arturo, Natalia and Ivanna. The Preschool students celebrated our heroes of the country with a commemoration, characterizing themselves and interpreting some of their famous phrases for the entire community. The ceremony concluded with our second “Cry of Independence” led by Miss. Marijo, section director.
The day did not end there, as our Seniors and the STUCO (Student Council) committee were in charge of organizing several activities so that the entire ITJ community could continue celebrating in full color for the rest of the day. With games such as lottery, musical chairs, hoop shooting, civil/friendship registration and sack race, among others, they ensured that the laughter and happiness would never stop. Typical Mexican food could not be missing and our students were not far behind, as they prepared different stands with a variety of Mexican sweets, desserts, waters and everything that a good Mexican knows how to enjoy.
After so much singing, games and laughter, the day concluded with the last and 3rd “Cry of Independence”, performed by our 12th grade students; and this was the farewell to another great ITJ day.
